What Data Is Collected

The plain-English version, written for end users.

What we collect from you

When you answer a pulse, we receive:

  • Your answers: yes/no, time-saved bucket, areas helped, satisfaction rating, free-text comment if you leave one
  • Which tool the pulse was about (e.g, chatGPT)
  • When you answered
  • Your user ID: so the response shows up in your dashboard, and your team lead can see it as part of your team's data

When you sign up (or are invited):

  • Your email and name
  • Your role (Member, in your case) and any groups you've been added to
  • Your time zone
  • Your sign-in tokens (handled by Clerk, not stored as passwords by us)

That's it. We don't ask for your phone number, address, date of birth, or any other personal information.

What the browser extension can, and can't, see

The extension asks for one broad permission: read and change your data on all sites. That reads alarmingly, so here is what it's for and what the extension actually does with it.

It's for drawing the pulse card. Pulses arrive on a schedule rather than when you visit a particular site, which means a pulse has to be able to appear on whatever page you have open at that moment. That could be any page, and Chrome has no narrower way to say so. The permission is optional, and the extension asks for it separately from the install.

With it, the extension:

  • Draws the pulse card in the corner of the page you're on, inside its own frame, so the card and the page can't reach into each other
  • Checks the address of the tab you're on, once, to see whether it's a page an extension is allowed to draw on at all (browser settings pages and the Chrome Web Store are not). That check happens on your machine and the address is never sent to us
  • Keeps your pulses and your answers on your own machine, so it works offline and can send answers when the connection comes back
  • Runs a once-a-minute timer to see whether the next scheduled pulse is due

What it doesn't do:

  • Read or send the content of any page you visit. Your prompts to ChatGPT, your conversations with Claude, the code you ask Copilot to write: none of it leaves your browser. We don't see it.
  • Send us any record of where you've been. When you answer a pulse we receive your answers, which pulse and which tool it was about, the extension's version number, and whether the pulse was a scheduled one or one you started yourself. No web address is part of that, ever.
  • Read your history or your bookmarks. The extension never asks Chrome for either, so it couldn't if it wanted to.
  • Store any of your AI-tool passwords or login details.

One thing worth being straight about: because a pulse can appear anywhere, the permission isn't limited to your organisation's AI tools. The limit is on what the extension does with it, which is draw a card and read nothing.

What your organisation supplies (you don't)

Your admin team enters things like the tools you have access to and what each costs the company per seat. You don't need to tell us anything about that. They handle it.

How your data is used

Three uses, in order of frequency:

  1. Showing your dashboard to you: your own hours-saved, the tools you've rated, your past pulses
  2. Aggregating to spot patterns: which tools are working across the company, where seats are going unused, where learning would help
  3. Showing your team lead and admins what's happening on their side of the platform: see Who sees my answers?

We do not use your data to:

  • Train AI models (ours or anyone else's)
  • Sell to third parties
  • Build a profile of you for advertising
  • Combine with other companies' data
  • Anything outside of giving your organisation a clearer picture of its AI program

Where the data lives

The platform stores everything in a database hosted on AWS, in Sydney, Australia. Encrypted in transit and at rest. Standard enterprise-grade hosting setup.

Removing your data

You can ask for your data to be deleted at any time. The simplest way is to ask your admin (they can deactivate your account, which stops new data and frees up your seat). If you want everything historical erased too, request deletion via your admin or contact The GAiGE support directly. We hard-delete within 30 days; backups age out within a further 30 days.

If you leave the company, your account is typically deactivated by your admin as part of normal offboarding.
